John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus established in earlier scriptures that the problem with Samaritan worship was knowledge ; they had no knowledge of who they worshipped. Consequently, He exposed the essence of "true worship" . Jesus revealed that true worship is a function of knowledge; knowledge of the One we worship, knowledge of His person: that He is our Father .
