Give your bread and fish to Jesus!
God is still in the business of multiplying loaves of bread and fishes. But like that little boy did, you have to give it to Him and watch Him multiply it.
God wants to feed the world with your loaves of bread and fishes. Look around you and you will find that many are hungry and are in need of bread and fishes, and I don't mean this literally only. The world right now is full of gloom and doom, but the solution is with you, in your hands. Give it to Jesus, let Him reach out to people. He will sustain you with it and the world as well. Friend, you may not know, but there are a million and one people who are worse off than you, and their condition has worsened in the light of the Coronavirus pandemic. But you can be an instrument in the hand of God to ameliorate their sufferings or altogether change their lives forever.
And yes, you may have just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes like the little boy had, it's Ok, give it to Jesus. It may even be less than 5 loaves and 2 fishes, it makes no difference, give it to Jesus. He will multiply it, feed the world, and there will be so much more leftover. Think about it, what can you do with that little loaves of bread and fishes? You can't feed yourself with it for too long talk less of your family or friends. But God can feed you, your family and the world at large with it! Give it to Him!
Again, you may have "only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar" like the widow of Zarephat. But I hear God say give it to Me and "The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry..." (I Kings 17:14 NKJV). Friends, you don't have to throw in the towel like the widow did when she said "I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” (I Kings 17:12 NKJV). This present circumstance is not unto death! There is life, increase, productivity in the other side, but you have to give your way through! I hear God say that the little you have in your hand right now is not your harvest, it is your seed, so sew that precious seed!
Furthermore, what you have may not be money or food, it may be skills, talents, abilities, competencies. Don't disregard it. You can change and/or impart lives with it. Presently, there is global shortage of medical aid workers and the world is calling out for help in that regard. You may not be an health worker, but you have something you can give right now. You have something you can offer. It may be a word of encouragement or prayers. Now is not the time to withhold it! Give yourself! Give what you have to God. He can path the red sea with it like the rod that was in Moses' hand. Just like Moses, many of us don't know that we have what we can use to path seas, make ways in the wilderness and produce water in the deserts in our hands. Give it to Jesus and watch Him fulfil the potential of that gift or ability or competency.
If you choose to focus on the fact that what you have is hardly sufficient and refuse to sow like the one that observes the wind and regards the clouds, there will be no harvest for you in future and you will not be making a contribution to making the world a better place, as it were. But if you cast your bread upon the waters, you will definitely find it after many days (Eccl 11:1), and not just you alone.
Finally, Solomon from the depth of his wisdom said "In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good" (Ecclesiastes 11:6 NKJV). Friends, when things are rosy and all beautiful sow, but when it is gloomy and doomy like the present global economic conditions suggest, sow as well and even more. This is wisdom because either way, you get a harvest. God bless you.
