Rom 8:28 (NLT)
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

The scripture above captures a beautiful thought. God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose (that is you, if you are saved).
The word "causes" is synonymous with make, compel, motivate, etc. God compels all things to work for our good. He controls all things and situations and hence He makes them to ultimately work out for our good.
"All things" tells me that the things He makes work for my good are all encompassing, no exceptions. Yes, God makes our successes, victories, health, etc work out for our good; in addition and more importantly, He makes our sorrows, disappointments, discouragements, failures, delay, denials, etc work out for our good too! Really, this is a wonderful truth! This is juice for our soul. That's why the bible teaches us to rejoice always (Philippians 4:4). If you maintain such a perspective of things, there is no way you will not be filled with joy all the time.
The question is, do you know this? It is important to know and acknowledge this truth that's why Paul said "And we know...". Being conscious of this, as Paul and the early church did, you will maintain a positive outlook in the face of any negative situation. No wonder the early disciples were enthusiastic about the gospel, despite the persecution they experienced. God is with you always and He is directing, managing the affairs of your life. His plans and thoughts for you are plans and thoughts for peace and well-being, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer 29:11)
Haven't you had some disappointing experiences and later on (I mean from hindsight), you are like "Thank God 'that' happened" because you experienced something much more better? I am sure you have. I certainly have. Sometimes, disappointments are redirections to something much better. Other times, it is a denial of something inferior and unhealthy. In Christ, we have hope for a better tomorrow.
Friends, God loves you exceedingly and He is interested in your utmost success. Be rest assured that He is looking out for your interests. He'll definitely make all things work out for you. You can bank on that. God bless you.
