God is a finisher

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
God is the author and finisher; He is the Alpha and the Omega; the Beginning and the Ending. He is a starter and even more importantly, a finisher. He always completes or finishes what He begins. There's no abandoned business with God. He is always doing and He completes them.
The phrase "being confident" is present continuous and it means to be confident and to remain confident. Paul expects us to have an enduring confidence in the fact that God who began a good work in us will complete it. At no point in our lives should we entertain doubt about this.
Despite what you see around you, be confident that God will complete what He started. It may appear that some projects are lingering unnecessarily. You may not have the resources to complete a particular project and you may not even see where the resources will come from. It may seem you are not making any progress whatsoever in some areas. Well, stay confident of the fact that God NEVER leaves any work uncompleted. He doesn't leave projects abandoned. He always complete everything He begins.
Now, it is important for us to note that God has already began the work in you. The moment we are saved, God begins to do His work in us (Phil 2:13). God is working in/on you. You are a divine project! Paul tells us the nature of the work God has begun in us; it is a good one! For His thoughts towards us are thoughts of good (Jer 29:11). God is always doing good (Acts 10:38) in our lives. And every (good) work He begins, He completes it.
Furthermore, when I think of "carry it", I think of pregnancy as in a woman "carrying" a child in her womb. A pregnant woman is responsible for the developmental needs of her unborn child from the day of conception to delivery; oxygen, nourishment, comfort, security, everything the foetus needs for growth is provided by the mother. The child lives and feeds from the mother until the day of delivery. In the same vein, the same God who began a good work in us will 'carry it' to completion. He will supply the wherewithal for its completion; the ideas, the inspiration, the finances, the help, the opportunities, the favour, etc. Everything needed for the completion of the work He began in you, He will supply to ensure the work is completed. Friends, be patient while you trust God to complete what He began in you and He will in Jesus' name, Amen.
