God is your very present help, refuge and strength

Psa 46:1 (NKJV)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Beloved, this scripture provides a wonderful source of comfort and encouragement for us in our days of trouble. It presents some of the attributes of God as our refuge, strength and help.

The psalmist tells us that God is a very present help in trouble. I believe the word "very" in that scripture offers something insightful. There is a difference between "God is a present help in trouble" and "God is a very present help in trouble". The latter offers more assurance. Let me attempt to show you as inspired.

The reason God is very present in times of trouble is because He never left in the first place. He promised He'll never leave nor forsake us; that He will be with us always. Friends, that's why He is very present in our troubled days. If He left us occasionally and still showed up in days of trouble, then we could say "He is present in days of trouble", but the fact that He'll never leave us at any point guarantees that "He is a very present help in trouble". This is a great source of comfort and assurance.
So, whatever "trouble" you are dealing with, realize that God has always been there. He never left and will never leave. His presence guarantees that the situation won't swallow you up.
One reason why He is very present is to help you. He is not present to criticize or scorn you or to fold His hands and watch, He is very present to help! We have to realize that God is the help we need. When you need help, you need God. He is more than willing to help.

Moreover, the psalmist also tells us "God is our refuge". A refuge is a place of shelter, protection, safety, where one can hide in times of danger. This clearly tells us that God is our hiding place. In times of trouble, we can hide in Him for safety. That's why Isaiah 43:2 says "...When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you". It is only the one hiding in God that will not be harmed though he walks through the fire. God didn't say we will not pass through fire, neither did He say there won't be days of trouble; however, He said in no unclear terms that He is our refuge in the midst of it. Another reason why God is very present is so you can have a shelter in times of trouble. So, realize that you have a shelter in God and hide in Him always. He is a very present refuge.

Furthermore, David tells us that "God is our strength". When you need strength, you need God. He is going to make His presence felt by applying His strength to resolve the problem. He is not going to fold His hands and say "son, you know what, I am here, but I'll watch you handle this issue on your own". No! No!! No!!! A million times No! Like Jesus did in the storm, He is going to arise and take care of the issue. He is not going to be present in a supervisory capacity, as such, He'll is there to do the work with His strength and help you get out of trouble. He is a very present strength.

Finally, in times of trouble, hide in God and while you do that, trust Him to help you address the trouble by applying His limitless strength to the situation. God bless you!
