Trust in God's Perfect love

1 John 4:18
....But perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves torment....

Fear has torment; it is sometimes said that fear is faith in the negative, and because there's an element of 'faith', what we are afraid of sometimes tend to happen. It is important to note that it was Job's fear that eventually caught up with him. He said in Job 3:25, "For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me." So, fear isn't something we want to have a strong hold in our lives. It incapacitates, make you powerless, unloving and weak in mind; that is why we are admonished severally in scriptures to "fear not". Scriptures say "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Tim 1:7). In as much as He hasn't, sometimes, because of the difficulties and challenges we face, fear does creep into our hearts and then we find ourselves worrying about our issues (like the disciples did in the midst of the storm) which ultimately does no good.
How then, do we rid ourselves of fear?
The answer is found in our scriptural reference: Perfect love. As the scripture says, perfect love drives out fear.

Perfect love speaks of the love of God for us because only God's love is perfect, unconditional, unyielding. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16). Again, God commended His own love for us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8). He loved us enough in our worst state to die for us; He loves us even more now that we belong to Him; and when we make mistakes, He loves us no less. God is love personified,   He is the definition of love.

Friends, acknowledging the perfectness of God's love for you, and basking in it is the tonic for fear. Despite the issues we deal with, the problems and challenges we face, knowing God loves us perfectly in the midst of it all, drives out fear and gives us hope for a better tomorrow. In the knowledge and trust in God's love, understand that God causes all things to work for your good and when things may not be going fine, He'll turn it around in no time. God loves us incredibly and He has already made an eternal testament of His love when Christ was crucified for us. And with Christ, He'll freely give us all things in the width, length and depth of His love. Amen!

So, what are you worried about? What are you fearful for? Trust that God loves you perfectly, it'll chase the fear away and give you supreme confidence about your life and future. When perfect love has driven the fear out, do well to replace 'the vacuum' with faith. God bless you!

Rejoice, it's your season of abundance for overflow

Joel 2:23-24 (NKJV) Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God;  For He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you — The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. Prophet Joel begins by telling us to be glad and rejoice in the Lord our God; and of a truth we have all been called to live a life brimming with  joy and gladness  because amongst other reasons,  it is for our safety . Moreover, Joel presents a reason for us to rejoice and be glad in our reference scripture. He tells us that God has been faithful in giving us "the former rain". "Rain" speaks of blessings. Indeed, God has been faithful in blessing us. We all are products and benefactors of His faithfulness. He has and He keeps showing us how wonderful, gracious, merciful and loving He is. Give your bread and fish to Jesus!

God is still in the business of multiplying loaves of bread and fishes. But like that little boy did, you have to give it to Him and watch Him multiply i t.  God wants to feed the world with your loaves of bread and fishes. Look around you and you will find that many are hungry and are in need of bread and fishes, and I don't mean this literally only. The world right now is full of gloom and doom, but the solution is with you, in your hands . Give it to Jesus, let Him reach out to people. He will sustain you with it and the world as well. Friend, you may not know, but there are a million and one people who are worse off than you, and their condition has worsened in the light of the Coronavirus pandemic. But you can be an instrument in the hand of God to ameliorate their sufferings or altogether change their lives forever .  And yes, you may have just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes like the little boy had, it's Ok, give it to Jesus. Rejoice in the Lord always (2)

Phil 4:4, *2 Thess 5:16 (NKJV) Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! *Rejoice always. In a previous post Rejoice in the Lord always (1) , we saw that out of everything Jesus could have said when He resurrected, He chose to say "rejoice" first. This, as we learnt, underscores the importance of the command to "rejoice" .  Furthermore, after Jesus left, Paul carried on the message. But this time, he added a very critical component to it as we see in our reference scriptures (Phil 4:4, 2 Thess 5:16). Apostle Paul, by the inspiration of the Spirit of God tells us to rejoice  ALWAYS , not sometimes, not most times, but every time!   This is very significant because it clearly reveals that rejoicing is not a function of circumstance . If it was, Paul wouldn't say "always" since, as he knew very well, it is not every time one will have reasons to rejoice.  So, we are not to rejoice because of what happens or doesn't happen

Jesus expects you to be a reader

"....Have you not read....?" (Matt 12:3,5, Matt 19:4, Matt 22:31; Mark 12:26) Five times in the Gospels, Jesus asked the above question. By this, He communicates His expectation for us to be readers, to be knowledgeable. Every time Jesus asked the question, He was basically saying 'you should have read that...' or 'you are supposed to know that.....' . This shows the significance of knowledge and the indispensability of reading in the Kingdom. Moreover, Hosea 4:6 says "My people perish for lack of knowledge" . So ignorance can make God's people perish; even God's people are not immune to the destructive nature of ignorance . Some have said and I quote "the day you stop learning, you start dying". This can be inferred from Hos 4:6. Friends, knowledge will keep you 'alive or living'; it will give you life and make you live longer (Pro 3:2, Psa 119:25) . Knowledge here, pertains to the knowledge of God's word. Go

You have the peace of Christ!

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. When Jesus was about to return to heaven, He had to assure His disciples of their inheritance and part of that was Peace . From the scripture above, we see that Jesus left  His disciples with peace. In case you are not sure whose peace or the kind of peace He left with them, Jesus went on to say " My peace I give to you". This tells us that the peace Jesus left with us or gave to us was His peace . The same peace He had and operated with here on earth. The peace by which He could sleep in the midst of a raging storm; the peace by which He calmed the storm; the peace by which He fed over 5,000 starving and expectant people; the peace that passes all understanding!  the very peace of God!  This is the peace He gave to us. Glory to God!!

JESUS came to reveal God's likeness

Colossians 1:15 (NKJV) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation . God created man in His image and likeness. However, when man sinned, he still had the "image" of God, but lost the "likeness". In other words, he still looked like God but he lost the capacity to display his likeness or similitude to God . Consequently, what became the norm were behaviors that were completely atypical of God. Man took turns to misrepresent God from their distorted perspective of the likeness of God or their inability to replicate how God was really like. Cain killing Abel was a case in point among many others. Recall, man was supposed to learn and perfect his knowledge of God and the capacity to flawlessly exhibit the likeness of God from the time God set aside to spend with man in the Garden of Eden.
